    I just keep hoping that the german antipathy to Trump will translate into a program to unify the EU. Macron has some good ideas but Merkel needs to have her voters supporting her. Bannon and Trump are both trying to undermine her. We shall see…

    In the EU, we have the same problems as in America, in some countries populistic nationalists are chosen. Their ideas are comparable with the republicans. Frequently, European nationalists are mostly not connected to a country, but with a part of the country. For example, in Spain you have among others Catalans and Basques. While Europe tries to unite, nationalists want to separate, so they feel great again. Actually it should not be said, but in almost every country the leaders of the nationalists have family connections with the rats of ww2. Merkel and Macron have different ideas, but they are both fighting on the right side. In Europe the fight against this creazyness is more than just one battle for the presidency. Which does not mean that it cannot be lost.
