Chesney, if you tell Annie to ‘hop to it’, you will be hopping on the loading dock.

This one always makes me think of Billy Connolly’s song – “if it wasnae for yer wellies”. It’s one of the few of his that has stuck with me through the years … and one of the few with clean lyrics

I have never heard the term “wellies.” Any idea of its derivation?
