Now I’m wondering what curse “Metal Hurling” is a stand in for.

Traditional zombies do not eat or think. Meat-eating dead-alive cannibal corpses were unknown till they appeared in 1969. Whatever those creatures are they are not zombies nor ghouls since they want it fresh. (Their infection needs it.) So I call them ghomzuls who look like the dead, but are hungry for flesh and blood of humans or anything else living as we saw in 1969. If they live long enough they go through a final bodily change beyond the sharp teeth and claws and they look more alive than dead as they develop. The longer they live the larger and stronger and redder they get. And harder to kill once and for all.
