Fun thing about this saying is that it is SUPPOSED to be “You can’t eat your cake and have it too.” The way it is now said just doesn’t make sense about what it is supposed to mean. You can eat your cake if you have it first, but if you eat it first, then you can’t have it.
I aways thought the saying was phrased wrong. My take was that you can’t eat your cake unless you have it. Right now I don’t have a cake, so obviously that’s the number one reason I can’t eat one at this time.Also worded wrong is ‘head over heels.’ Think about it. Isn’t that the normal arrangement?
