some time ago somewhere there was a proposal to place signs in the sidewalk so people watching their phones would know the end of the sidewalk was close. I say don’t put those signs, instead place some spikes in front so if the person is not aware and other people have to be aware of that person not being aware where he walks, he or she may get impaled, by nobody else’s fault
My new car has GPS mapping, “Lane keeping assistance,” and “advanced cruise control” that’s supposed to match speed with the car ahead of me. I can imagine someone activating them all and then letting the car drive itself. Of course it can’t do any of that with a cover over it.
I once watched a man on a busy highway move quickly from the left lane, across three other lanes and realized that he was using a battery powered razor.

good thing he didn’t hit a tree, a fire hydrant, or a building, or another car

One would think he noticed how difficult it was to get into the car – but I’m looking at the situation from a point of view that’s likely ancient.

What was that old saying? Oh, yeah. If you don’t like the way women drive, stay off the sidewalk.

I direct traffic, and this almost wouldn’t surprise me.
