Don’t forget Darth “I had other priorities” Chaney, Rush “I had a cyst on my butt” Limbaugh, and other leading lights of the Reich-wing. And yes, Bill Clinton DID register for the draft at the end of his student deferments, and had a 1-A draft classification.
At this time, and on that day, I put politics and pundits aside, only remembering that “Greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for another.” The last line of Taps; “All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.”
As Donald Trump reminded us this morning, Memorial Day is the day we recognize the true heroes in America, those who fixed the economy and gave jobs to women and Black people, like Donald Trump did.
And I recall a time, when, as an idealistic Army Reservist Spec 4, I had an old Regular Army First Sargent chew my ass big time because the National Guard and Army Reserve got a hall pass on Vietnam (this, despite the fact that I had nothing to say about who got called up and when, and that I joined up after 1975). Didn’t matter. Totally changed the way I felt about Regular Army soldiers (we’ll skip over that). I’m glad the National Guard and Army Reserve get more respect these days! My experience with the regular army notwithstanding, those guys gave a lot more to their country than the present occupant of the White House. Bone spurs? Yeah, right.

Sad, when we remember Obama’s distinguished and proud military career, during which he achieved the rank of E-0.

Obama served to make America better by serving the people, not killing others in other countries.
