I recently read Grant’s memoirs of his military career. Grant could write well.
In the book he is generous with praise to subordinate officers and the rank-and-file soldiers. He is modest about his own actions, and points out where he could have done better. He gives credit where it is due to his adversaries. I can’t imagine the current president doing any of that.
