    About 10-15 years ago, when I was starting to have to deal with aging parent issues more, I complained to a friend that it wasn’t that they were changing—but the fault(s) they’d had all along were increasing. She told me “what held it in check is eroding”. Very useful way to think about it.

    (And prepare boundaries.)
