We had a border collie when I was a teenager. Letting her out in the backyard got you the sight of a dog running pell-mell around in circles. She really wanted to herd something.

We had a sheltie/corgi mix. He would run out in the street and herd the kids playing. Oddly enough, they were easy to herd.
