Which is why in Europe, particularly Scandinavia, mussels are used as bait. (Best thing is, the bait can be eaten on a bad day.)
Personally, I use fish eggs and salt clams for bait, but then I fish on the Malabar coast.
And no one is going to ask Nancy why she “rescued” them by throwing them in the water instead of the dirt that they came from, is anyone?
