Oh mercy! I’m having this catastrophe at my house now! I have to (sob) move home and my kids are so jacked-up about it that they’re practically chewing the walls.
Young kids don’t understand the concept of “later” or “next week” too well. Especially when you’re pregnant - you almost have to tell them in the last month or so, or else all you’ll hear is “Is the baby here yet?” all the time.
@ejcapulet - I’m sorry you have to move, esp with little ones. That’s never fun! I hope it goes smoothly for everyone.
The only thing wrong with kids is that they are young. We oldsters fail to appreciate what and how experience turns into wisdom. There is nothing quite like remembering an experience to constrain one’s reaction.
Of course, the opposite side of this coin is the loss of innocence and the “sense of wonder” that is the results of a new experience.
Is this a fair trade? Only you can answer that question and different folk will have different reactions.
Very true from all- I’m actually relieved that this Thanksgiving/Christmas season, I have no visiting family- but I wish I had some grandkids to go to see “Tangled” with- I hear it is a eally worthwhile 3D film, but I’ll just get a DVD:-(
for some of us, that appreciation never goes away, and we are very well equiped to understand, teach, and help the youth understand what they are going through.
Actually, she should not have said anything. Nothing at all until they go and pick them up at the airport. We never tell the kids anything ahead of time - sometimes grandma surprises them by simply walking through the door…
They have no concept of time, plans may be cancelled or changed, etc. - why do parents have to go blabbing about the news way ahead of time? Bad idea…
