Unfortunately there are idiot teens who think they can’t walk two blocks. My brother and I walked home three miles be cause we could beat the school bus!
Reminds me of the current Zits story line. Why does the lazy, obnoxious brat “have” to drive to school? EVERYONE in the country either lives within walking distance of school, or has a bus provided. NO-ONE needs to drive, or be driven, to school. All roads within 1 km of any school should be designated no-stopping-at-any-time zones. If you’re going to drop off or pick up your kid at school, make him walk a km first! (Thus eliminating a lot of childhood obesity…)

By cracky, in my day we had to walk five miles to school, uphill both ways, rain or shine, snow or sleet.
