They’re avoiding litigation & extensive vehicle damage by not hitting him.
My friend, who’s over 6 feet and a few hundred pounds of mostly muscle, got hit by a car once. The car got more damaged from him crushing its hood than he got.
Dogs are great at that. They are very alert and protective.
