This reminds me of an episode of Little House on the Prairie where Mr. Ingalls had to save some kids including at least one of his daughters who were on a runaway train or from something else so he quickly borrowed someone’s horse while he was on it and without even asking and took off to go get them. I suppose under those circumstances, they wouldn’t hang you as long as you returned the horse after you got done rescuing your kids.
