White House spokesman Ari Fleischer: Before we start today, I have a general announcement to make. I'm sure that most of you appreciate that national security is at the heart of all public policy. Therefore, starting today, and continuing through next year's election, the answer to any question posed to this White House will be 9/11. Whether the question is on foreign policy, the economy, tax cuts, energy, environment, whatever - the answer will always the the same - 9/11! Okay, I'll take your questions now. Rick: Ari... “Ari, what is the president’s biggest failure?” “Ari, what is the only reason he gets reelected in 2004?” “Ari, what excuse will the president use for allowing so many of his cronies to profit off of the Iraq war?”
Not sure it’s a winning strategy if the press was smart about it…
