Even at 65, ringing the bell is the one thing I can do. When I was young and studly I had to take a pick to 5000 square feet of caliche clay so a rototiller could get a bite. I quickly learned raising the pick over my head would barely dent the stuff; the trick is to hold it about head level in front and let it drop, using your force to propel it around your side and over your head, stopping the force before it hits. Ding!
Watched people try one of the electronic versions. Adults had to hit it just right with the right amount of force to ring the bell but every child who tried it easily rang the bell. Sure made a lot of kids happy.

I broke one of these machines at my highschool afterprom. Not entirely sure how, but it was probably just rusted a lot.
