Trump does not lie. He simply says what he thinks is expedient at the moment (because he is a sociopath). We are all just supposed to go along with the contradiction. Why? Because he’s Trump. Now don’t question him.
If honesty got him anywhere he would use it. His base doesn’t care about honesty, why should he? This is the leader of the Republican party, they are still following him. It should be pretty obvious to everyone (who still cares about the truth) that the resident is a liar.
The trump does not know “honesty”. To him what ever works is the way to win. And.. winning is everyting.. and to heck with the consequences.
You… picked a fine leader. Hopefully at some point the House and Senate will come to their collective senses.. (I know a stretch) and enact some laws to prevent this type of nonsence to ever happen again.
“You can always count on Americans to do the right thing – after they’ve tried everything else.” Winston Churchill uttered those words in the manner of a ‘crusty’ uncle toward a wayward but beloved nephew as a warning to his fellow Brits. I suspect, however, he could not envision Donald John Trump as part of the “everything else”! Now that we Americans have proven to ourselves that the “horseshoe” is,in fact, hot, let us hope that reason will be restored without having to burn down the house, as well!
Trump deliberately lies to obfuscate and stall. He uses the lawyer trick of introducing phony doubt. “It could have been Russia that hacked our election, could have been China or a 400 pound guy on his couch.”
On Wednesday, the Russian prime minister, Dmitri A. Medvedev, declared the “end to hope for the improvement of our relations” and mocked Mr. Trump as having been forced to sign the sanctions into law.
“The Trump administration has demonstrated total impotence, handing over executive functions to Congress in the most humiliating way possible,” Mr. Medvedev wrote on Facebook. He added that “the American establishment has totally outplayed Trump” with the goal “to remove him from power.”
When did we have honesty, not only in the White House, but in the Nation’s Capitol, itself? I still remember LBJ, who won the presidential election by a landslide in 1964, by “promising” not to send American boys to fight in Asia. By the way, I served 1968-1972, because I had a brown skin and therefore was “more obligated” to fight for this country.
@DANIEL JACOBSON: There were many with white skins who served because there was this thing called ‘the draft’ back then, and men with no college deferments or toe problems like BLOTUS, or who were not the Sole Support of their families were also ‘more obligated’. I lost high school pals there and they did not all have brown, black or yellow skin…
