My father and his brother were working at 4 and 6 respectively. They carried a bucket of water for people gathering Spanish moss for stuffing of car cushions. It was the segregated south. They had two dippers in the bucket, one for whites, one for blacks. Same bucket, though.

From 15 on I worked full time every summer until I graduated
A few more years and I’ll be able to say I’ve been working for 50 years
Wish I knew how many more years I’ll be able to work
