When I wrote papers, we weren’t even allowed to use Wikipedia at all, because it could either be someone else’s work, or it could be false information.
When I was doing on-line Jr. College for a degree. We where strictly informed what not to use. I knew I need key words on subject matter. So I rewrite with those key words my way. Did okay.

there was no Wikipedia in my day when I did a report on Edison… heck, the Internet was still in its infancy

Anytime a student commits plaigiarism, the penalties are so severe that it’s almost like the school system deems you unfit to even exist.

Even if he did write the Wikipedia entry, he still needs to cite the sources.
