I’m sorry I dampened the discussion with something that isn’t on topic. It popped into my head watching a couple of politicians debating, and I thought it was important enough that I needed to say it somewhere.

Indeed. And it’s also high time Americans stopped thinking they’re entitled to a higher standard of living than everyone else and learned to live on the same planet as everyone else. This economic downturn is actually going to be good for us in the long run.
