Learning more than one language is considered extraordinary here. Yet it is common place if not required most everywhere else.

Children should be as prepared for school as it’s possible to make them, by their parents. Parents who are in a country and are expecting to send their kids to public schools in that country should teach their kids the language they are going to be taught in school. Individuals who are in a country should learn the language of that country, not expect the rest of the country to cater to them. It would be the same if I were to move to Mexico or France. For a two week trip, it makes sense to fumble along as best you can, but if you are planning to live in a country, you are handicapping yourself, and more importantly, your kids if you don’t do your best to learn the language that doesn’t require other people to put out extra effort to deal with you, because you are denying yourself and your kids opportunities that would be available to someone who showed that attitude.

DIANNE LEE: I hope you realize that we do not have an official state language and besides when people immigrate here they learn English very rapidly. White folks just get upset when they speak their native tongue among themselves. Probably a jealousy issue since most Americans are too lazy to learn a second or third language like the rest of the world has been doing since grade school. Yea, we lost first place in education a long time ago…..probably explains how Trump became president. Any how, can you guess the fastest growing demographic or language group in America. Yep, it’s Hispanic. You might want to start those Spanish lesson real soon as you may be in the minority before you know it. Oh, and in case your wondering I speak Mescalero ( my native tongue), English, German, Spanish, Tagalog, Farsi, and Somali Arabic.
