After fighting a giant shark and then lifting a heavy iron grate, I would be completely out of breath (if I had survived, that is). Pearl divers have tremendous lung capacity and can stay under for a long time, but not with this kind of expenditure of energy. But then, we all like to watch Superman, Spiderman, Pendergast, Jack Reacher, Wonder Woman, James Bond and a hundred other heroes. Suspension of disbelief is absolutely necessary.

Where are Oozu and his merry men – shouldn’t they be a little concerned after seeing their god killed and Tarzan escaping?
(And, RAY_C – James Bond was real, at least when he was Sean Connery, anyway.)
