The reason the press is having difficulty in the US is it decided to become an advocate for favored persons and causes. Had it been content with being the press it would have no problems.
You certainly don’t get any information from the White House any more.. They clam up, or lie or distract. Clearly they are on the path a dictator takes by trying to muzzle the press every chance they get. Soon they will start throwing reporters in jail.
The other autocrats may or may not be mentally ill. Poor demented little sick trumpy is a sociopathic narcissist with ADHD. He lies and cheats to prop up his pathetic shrunken consciousness. If the press call him on it, he gets livid and starts tweeting at 3am. The issue is that the press isn’t hard ENOUGH on these people. Normalization of mental illness is dangerous. The US press needs to be even more searing in its condemnation. Colbert is leading the way. Ridicule is the best approach as a disinfectant. Ridicule is devastating to a narcissist like trump. We need more of it, and the more scathing the better.
Trumpy made a lot of enemies in the press. The press will bring the idiot down since the Republicans refuse to investigate their sexist, racist, Russian collaborator.
Uh, Mikefive, big difference between Fox and what I am suggesting. The type of ridicule and mocking is to emphasize evidence that warrants ridicule. When you ridicule that which is demonstrably false, that is making fun of something that deserves ridicule. That’s why it’s powerful. That’s why it works. That’s why ridicule is feared by autocrats. It speaks to the truth with open scorn in a humorous way. It is not at all like Fox. More like Limbaugh’s ridicule, but honest, instead of lies. Truth telling in a scathing wrapper speaks to power like nothing else because it threatens the lies and undermines autocracy.

The free press called me deplorable, why should I respect them?

Screw the free press… How about an honest press?
