    Too bad we didn’t restrain our funding of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, or pay attention to the intelligence we had back to right after the Russian departure. Going into Pakistan now isn’t great on brights either. The fact that “Pakistan” is a name coming from those British imperial days is also, well, interesting.

    The nut from Iran DOES have a valid point that if not for imperial desires and interests, the whole middle east and south Asia, and southeast Asia, would have been very, very, different. The people who actually live there might have had more power, and independence, a century or more ago.
