Rick: Mr. Speaker, as you inch closer to a run at the presidency, your image as a champion of family values has come under severe attack... Not only does it appear you were a deadbeat dad, but now it seems you were routinely unfaithful to your first wife before leaving her... Bomb / Gingrich: Look, first off, all these accusations are coming from disgruntled campaign employees, disgruntled friends and disgruntled relatives... Secondly, I never said I was perfect. Who is, in this day and age? Phil Gramm left his first wife. Bob Dole left his. Same with Pete Wilson. Now, these men are all great Americasns. So what does that tell you? Maybe the problem isn't with us - maybe the problem is with first wives! Rick: All first wives? Bomb / Gingrich: They expect so much! Second wives are more realistic!

Just a reminder that this is Marianne that Trudeau has Newt talking up. Either at this point or slightly down the road, Newt is actually porking one of his congressional staffers behind HER back, too, and like Jackie, he’s destined to divorce her as soon as she gets sick—MS in her case.
The man was an even bigger piece of work than he’s being made out to be here.

Let’s not forget the allegation that he literally tried to get Jackie to sign divorce papers hours after she had surgery for uterine cancer (still coming off the drugs for the surgery). Newt denies this but hospital staff confirmed there was a big fight about something.
