The amount of damage he can do represents an asymmetry in any war fought there. He really doesn’t care how many people or buildings he loses. He can hurt the richer countries, who do care.
We can’t just fly a C-130 into North Korean airspace & take out Kim, even if China & Russia were willing to turn a blind eye. I suspect the thaw between Trump & Xi has Kim a lot more worried than the bombs & missiles.
Conservatives love the idea of ‘go it alone’, gunboat diplomacy, but it’s Obama/Clinton style nudging of other nations into a consensus & isolating bad actors that gets results. I won’t say it always brings positive results, but it costs less & quite honestly, spreads the blame.
