During 1942, many things were hard to get or not available. My parents had a large umbrella. An older boy, riding a bicycle , was towing me in a wagon, but control was lost. I opened umbrella to brake wagon speed. Mom looked out the window in horror as umbrella flipped straight out breaking all struts. Wagon wiped out on gravel at corner turn. Serious loss of skin on knees & arms. Nothing was said about the umbrella as Mom patched me up. But it rained the next day…….

I’ve never had an umbrella that could withstand a strong wind – in this case keeps human damage to a minimum
