With only a little over 80% of eligible voters bothering to register, and registering for the party they find least distasteful instead of registering and working to improve the candidates of the other party, and with less than 60% turnout of those who registered, reluctantly deciding to vote, we indeed get the government we deserve. Enjoy.

When Republicans decided not to do their Constitutional duty and even give Garland a vote, it was what the Republicans wanted. Now that Democrats are trying to hold back the Gorsuch votes, it is somehow blocking? nice try. The only way Gorsuch will be installed in the Supreme Court is when the Republicans change the rules to steal that seat, he won’t get 60 votes, but the Republicans don’t mind changing rules.

As for all this “punish cities” business that’s going on, there’s a simple solution.

The metropolitan areas can petition to become states themselves. That’s absolutely permitted by the constitution, and absolutely has precedent as Virginia vs West Virginia shows clearly.

At which point, it becomes very different.

    City-states anyone?

Going nuclear will likely bite the right in their collective behinds in a few years.
