We really need to see those returns from the so-called billionaire prez, who is about to start war on war on poverty programs! Also, need to get to the bottom of the Russian connections.
A major new study of social-media sharing patterns shows that political polarization is more common among conservatives than liberals — and that the exaggerations and falsehoods emanating from right-wing media outlets such as Breitbart News have infected mainstream discourse.
Though the report, published by the Columbia Journalism Review, does an excellent job of laying out the challenge posed by Breitbart and its ilk, it is less than clear on how to counter it. Successfully standing up for truthful reporting in this environment “could usher in a new golden age for the Fourth Estate,” the authors write.
@Radish – I read that article, too, and it’s very worrying, because it forms a perfect propaganda loop: people who believe this nonsense only go to outlets who confirm that nonsense for them, which reinforces their belief that it is true, regardless of what every other source in the world says — including scientists. People would rather believe some blowhard on Breitbart than anyone with actual facts or credentials. How do you break the loop?
