    Erdogan is a fruit.

On this forum, more than 10 years ago, I still supported Turkey’s EU membership aspirations. But 10 years is a long time and Erdogan has now been PM and president for the last 14-15 years or so.

    Erdogan is another authoritarian wannabe-dictator.

I view any Austro-Turks or Germano-Turks who support this jerk as a danger. I say this as a dual-national living in a third country, if you’re a Turkish dual-national, or simply a Turk resident within the EU, and you support a guy who rides roughshod over civil liberties, jails dissidents, journalists, academics, opposition members and calls everyone who opposes him as terrorists, you’re not getting my support.

I’m all for any EU wide resolution not to allow Erdogan to campaign in any EU country. It is not undemocratic to not allow an undemocratic person to campaign within other democracies.

Erdogan is an unmitigated disaster for Turkey. He has destroyed the free press and is well on his way to destroying the universities. I have to agree that I would be against consideration of EU membership for Turkey until democratic institutions are restored,, much less allowing him to campaign in EU nations.
