Thank You, Jim. Much akin to Shakespeare: "Our revels now are ended. These our actors,As I foretold you, were all spirits, andAre melted into air, into thin air:And like the baseless fabric of this vision,The cloud-capp’d tow’rs, the gorgeous palaces,The solemn temples, the great globe itself,Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuffAs dreams are made on; and our little lifeIs rounded with a sleep. "Your rendition (especially with your always beautiful artwork) makes it all the more beautiful. As the circus itself, you are much appreciated yourself, sir. May YOU continue on for very many years to come!

A beautiful tribute. I fondly remember my parents taking us to the RBB&B circus as kids. Fortunately there are still circuses such as The Universoul Circus, The Big Apple Circus, and Cirque du Soleil.

When the PC crowd have the fun completely sucked out of everything will they be happy then?? I doubt it. It seems the more they get their way the madder they become…

It wasn’t the PC police that doomed the circus, it was PETA, the self-righteous organization that puts the so-called welfare of animals ahead of everything else, including human life.

PETA kept the circus so tied up in litigation that they finally conceded just to stop the outflow of money to lawyers. Once the animals were gone, so was the circus. The ironic thing is that the Ringling show was known for it’s care of the animals, including having a vet with them on the road. It’s the little, lesser known shows that are still touring that have the reputation for cruelty. Why hasn’t PETA gone after them? Because they aren’t the big name that gets the headlines.

Truly sad. An end of an era. We do have congress now and the White House to fill the void.

So now what will little kids dream of running off to join? Or have today’s kids stopped dreaming?

The idiots of the animal right and the liberal crybabies have once again ruined the fun for future generations. RIP Ringling Bros.

I paused a day to comment. I was disappointed conversations took a downward spiral. The circus, of which I hold a nostaglic fondness, has like many other traditions in history become a relic of the past. The time has come, for many reasons financially, fashionably and otherwise for the show to close. The blackout panel was well done. Thank you Jim for a dignified tribute to a once cherished entertainment.
