Not all monkeys eat bananas, as not all monkeys, gorillas, etc. are in areas where bananas are prevalent. How about greens? (salads) How about nuts? Oh, wait, he IS one. No cannibalism here!

“If man evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?” Bumper-sticker science; as sophisticated as “Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?” “Man and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor” is not so snappy. I read a letter to the editor where this woman says, “If evolution is survival of the fittest, what about love? How do weak women and children survive?” Boiling down a complex theory to four words. “Fittest” doesn’t, in this context, mean “strongest”. Cooperative living may render a species more fit to survive than living as individuals. Etc.

“Descended from” is poor terminology. Birds are still dinosaurs. Humans are still apes.

Well, if nothing else, all this science discussion will certainly drive all the RWNJ’s away. Hopefully it will be permanent.
