Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for June 18, 1975
Transcript:
General: Any final questions? Yes, what is it, Marine? Marine: Sir, when we hit Samoa, are we expected to sustain heavy casualties? General: Well, I can't say for sure, boy! But in the long run, that doesn't really concern us! There's a larger principle involved here! Marine: What larger purpose, sir? General: There isn't time to explain, soldier! We've got a beachhead to establish! Marine: But, sir... General: LET'S GO, MARINES! Marine: Not until you explain! Voice: I'm with you - it's gotta be for something I believe in!

Trudeau cant even keep his terms straight no marine commander would call his subordinates soldiers. Of course you cant expect him to want to give respect to our service personnel
