stiwahoo is right. This IS the Oct. 6 strip (just check the date). According to the paperback collection “What Do We Have for the Witnesses, Johnnie?” in which the strips present are reprinted chronologically, and in which both the Oct. 15 and Oct. 17 strips are present, the strip between these two features the football huddle with B.D. and Zonker.
Zonker: Bad news, gents! These here are academic warning lists from the dean.Zonker: “The following players are ineligible for football due to unsatisfactory mid-term grades.”Zonker: “Ricardo Rose, ‘Spike’ Bonenburger, Jeffy Davis … and B.D.”B.D.: What!? I therefore strongly presume that this was the real Oct. 16 strip …
