Well, yeah, it is rigged, but not by Trump & Co. This country was founded by and for wealthy aristocrats who didn’t trust the common people to elect a leader. So they designed the diabolical Electoral College to prevent that. Their plan has worked twice of late—Gore beat Dubya by half a million, now Hillary has beat Trump by 2 million and counting, yet both lost the presidency.
The system is rigged and always has been. That’s the function of the RNC and DNC. They call it “creating the most optimal situations possible for our candidates.” And, historically it has involved voter purging, poll taxes, literacy tests, “lost” ballot boxes, and a few dead voters. Trump won because the Tea Party types pretty much destroyed the RNC power. The DNC was still strong enough to nominate the person the party wanted instead of the person that the people wanted, while the RNC wasn’t.
Twice in less than 20 years we’ve had this imbalance between the EC and popular votes. It’s even possible that Gore legitimately won the EC, but since the SC stopped the recount, we’ll never know. Before that, you have to go back to the 1800s to find another case of the EC victorious over the popular vote (i.e., not in the lifetime of anyone now living). That’s why this is so disturbing. That, and the fact the system has elected an unqualified, mentally-disturbed sociopath to the presidency. For the first time in my life, I’m ashamed of my country as a whole.

It is as long as the Electoral College exists. I’ve been saying it should be abolished for years.

Wait, Mr. Elephant, don’t throw out that sign. It will come in handy down the road, during the mid-term election cycle.
