On the subject of contractions, of which “you’re” is currently questioned; it is my humble opinion (IMHO) when a writer chooses to use a contraction, he/she should first read out the words being contracted before writing it down.
I’m (see, I used a contraction) not sure who started this word shrinking process, but many times when you replace the contraction with the two separate words, the grammar is dreadful at best.
Maybe I should’ve (see, I did it again) contracted or even redacted much of my comment…
