All he said is that they found a new set of emails (though they may not be new at all, if they turn out to be duplicates of some they already have) on a device which never was used by Clinton. Some of these may or may not be relevant, but they don’t know, since they haven’t read them. There’s a pretty good chance that there will be no further evidence before the election. And yet, some people will conclude from this batch of nothing that somehow this amounts to more evidence against Clinton, to add to the lack of evidence they already had. Comey’s letter cries out to be misinterpreted, and the misinterpretations came immediately. This all will surely go down as one of the biggest blunders (if it was unintentional) in the history of US election. Comey has earned himself a very bad place in US history.
