And that’s the reason why I refuse to use a credit card, I prefer to pay nothing to the banks, I have enought with my taxes.BTW, of all comic strips I follow, this is the one with the most interesting comments, because I learn also from the financial experience of other people.
If you need a credit card to rent a car, you can find one with good grace period and close it immediately afterwards. I had such a situation in Scotland, because Thrifty doesn’t accept debit cards unless issued by a UK bank. So, I had to order a credit card and close it immediately after I rented a car. Costed me about 5 USD, which is pretty OK in comparison with 400 USD for 2-week rent.
I use a credit card to meet basic needs. I pay it in full after every paycheck deposit, and get 1 to 3 percent back that goes into my savings account. Every purchase is protected in full as well, and warranties are extended. Debit cards get locked up, give no cash back, are only protected up to $50, and no extended warranties. Now that I think of it, I should take mine out of my wallet because I don’t use it any more.
I use certain credit cards and pay off it at the end of the month or for a large purchase I do a 90 day or 120 day same as cash. And pay it down fast. I bought a touring bicycle that way and will pay it off in three months or less.It took me years to figure out what I was doing wrong money wise.

Never use a debit card to rent a car. The rental place will lock up your funds with the deposit.

Because a debit card is tied to your bank account, credit cards are better. I only use ours for emergencies and we only have the one card.
