Decades-old idea. It fails because criminals will find a way to activate it as well to commit robberies or worse. Nothing is hack-proof.

Recently a rash of Jeep thefts came down to hackers manipulating the computer system. A hacker will park a few feet from the Jeep and unlock the car, turn off the alarm, and can even remote-start it up so all the thief has to do is jump in and drive off.

Technology can be used for good or bad.

Except for when it malfunctions and the car turns off going 70 miles an hour down a freeway.

All you have to do is to make inextricably linked to the function of the car. Take it out and it won’t run without it.-Technology is neutral.

if a cop can turn off your car remotely, who else can? a random midlevel employee at the company who made the car that you annoyed somehow, and is now trying to drive you off a cliff? maybe a random sociopath working ther who can now create wrecks without any real evidence.
