During negotiations the police asked the sniper what he wanted. His response was “to kill as many cops as I can”. THEN the killer robot was sent in.

I have no problems with the police where I live. Here, they still do serve and protect. I lived in Las Vegas for 8 years and some of the police there were not suited to shovel manure. Too many cops have testosterone poisoning, as my Mom would have said. The cops in Dallas killed that guy because it was the easiest way to resolve the situation. Spending the rest of his life in a cage would have been far more punishing. Perhaps he was aware of what that entailed and committed blue assisted suicide.

Leave it to the Texans to destroy the evidence, they’ve had a lot of practice since JFK.

Uh, the guy was still shooting at them, and refusing to give himself up, as ordered. But it IS disturbing that cops are given robots, armored vehicles, and other weapons from the military that encourages the expansion of violent reaction, rather than resolutions without violence.

That refusal to negotiate has been working both ways, way too often though, and it’s NOT just “black on white”, but within white, black, “Hispanic”, Asian, and other communities where gang activity is present in lower economic status communities. Poverty IS a big fire-starter for violence. (Not just race.)

I suppose every police department should mount a Light Brigade to charge in regardless?
