Whatever it is, it’s clearly meant to be something not particularly attractive and worth sustaining. The man seems to be saying, “Better to wallow in the bleeep we know than try something different.” This is certainly one of Ted’s most metaphysical statements, and most obscure. He says, on the Rallblog, “Inspired by a real argument.” That doesn’t shed much light.

I read it as being about the debate with regards to criticizing Obama.

What the cartoon as a whole is about is pretty clear. The concluding panel is a massive fail.
