It has nothing to do with hate, it has to do with respect. Would islamic people allow a catholic church on one of their holy sites?

Its not about religious tolerance with Muslims. The Quran says convert or die! If you believe in Islam then there cannot be tolerance for the rest of us. I say screw them and their Cordoba Shrine of victory.

    way off base

it’s on private land, an abundance of which remains around the site of the 9/11 attack

under all laws civic and federal, it is protected - whether obama said it or not

my thought is that if the site were surrounded by tabernacles of many faiths - christian, hindu, jewish, catholic - wouldn’t that be an enormous statement of what america is - and has always been?

As I’ve posted elsewhere.. bad taste is not illegal. Discrimination against people based upon their religion IS ILLEGAL. Either live in this country which is made of laws (and used to have some effing principles) or get the he11 out!

If you’re really pining for fickle and arbitrary hatred of “others” then move to Venezuela or North Korea. You guys just DON’T get it do you?

Why can’t any of these idiots look at a map and see it is NOT AT GROUND ZERO!

Also notable that the main objections toward the Flight 93 memorial were that the design might be considered a crescent.

    Amoronicans are vocal indeed.

Maps are a liberal neo-socialist communist plot.

Tolerance needs to stop being a one way street. When peoples of different cultures and religions formed this nation over 200 years ago they did it to form a federation with a new identity which would permit people to maintain their expression of faith free from a dogma and church leadership imposed by the rullers, unlike England with it’s Archbishop of Canterbury in the 16th century and beyond or the Vatican’s undue influence in governmental affairs of soverign nations that had occurred in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Religious leaders in Iran and Saudia Arabia have no hand-off policies when it comes to interfering in the affairs of their neighbors. This is the heritage of the AlQuaeda. If we have to have a Mosque at ground zero to satisfy the religious needs of people who are making no attempt to be a part of rather than partakers of our national bounty then it would certainly make more sense to spend the money to buy them plane tickets.

I’d rather see a few buildings on that land. You know, those things with multiple floors occupied by companies and their workers…

“Discrimination against people based upon their religion IS ILLEGAL.”

Is a death cult a religion?

Did the followers of Jim Jones or David Koresh deserve recognition or … . .

Fleabane: The folks, especially Jews, were a lot better off during the “heyday” of Cordova under Islam, than anywhere in Europe for centuries under Popes, or Protestants. When the Muslims started bickering amongst themselves, just like the Christians, things did go downhill, but not compared to European feudalism.(known in the U.S. as Reaganomics.)

Most of the victims of Islamic integrists are other muslims.

I have a tv series about history made in 1978, I watched that as a kid. It’s called “Once upon a time…Man”.

There is a whole episode there about the birth of Islam. Muhammad is seen from the back for most of the episode, his face his not shown.

It was just in 1978, and nobody in the muslim world made a big deal of it. It wouldn’t be like that today.

    WHAT HAPPENED???

“Would islamic people allow a catholic church on one of their holy sites?”

Would Christians allow a mosque in their churche? Don’t ask stupid questions you know the answers to. If this has to do with international affairs the answer is who cares? I care about freedom of religion in America since that’s where we live, not some oppresive third world country that is stuck in the middle ages. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

I’m sure Ramirez had in mind the annual 9/11 memorial services held on the WTC site……and it is a good illustration of the insensitivity of the Islamic planners of a “shrine” to mark the site as Victory over Infidels, as well as the insult to every family of a murdered loved one on 9/11/01, and to Americans in general….most of us that fit into the Koran’s description of “infidels”…..soon, they hope, to be oppressed under US-Taliban sharia laws.

The left wing endorses flag burning as political speech instead of respectful flag display. How tolerant would the left be when the victims of 9/11 express their views by dunking the Koran in a bucket of porcine urine and feces?
