I deliver pizzas, and I have a hearing impairment. I know the doorbell works if I hear barking – no need for a follow-up knock.
According to the police dogs are more effective than alarm systems – they are much more effective than doorbells.
We had a parrot that could hear someone approaching the front door. Started making a racket to let us know.
Or a security system.
