For those of you who are Harry Potter fen, Mac’s dialogue is pretty much how Snape, Lily, Petunia (who all come from the Midlands, probably the northern end of the Midlands near Manchester) and possibly Vernon would have sounded before they all made a conscious effort to sound posh.
i did like mac trying to speak dustbowl willie. reminds me of the time my parents friends had a visitor from france at the same time as their monthly book group. which was reading aloud a play that month. set in new york among jewish immigrants from eastern europe. i shall leave the results to your imaginations.
