Californians are not in love with this incredibly expensive railroad. The Hyperloop is a far better concept.Californians need a water supply, not steel rails to nowhere.
Not that you’re smart enough to know the difference, or even here at all, but WW II was not fought to spread American values. You might have heard, we were attacked first.
High speed rail is a wonderful thing if you can use it from the center of one cit to the center of another. But not from a spot in one desert to a spot on another.
It’s hard to see the real issues here as this has become so political. I have some friends who ended up moving to Europe to continue their careers in physics as the big science projects were killed for political rather than scientific reasons … the projects were completed successfully there. I honestly do not know if this going to be another case of a project that could be beneficial being aborted before completion or if it is just simply impractical. Elon Musk has done some amazing things but the hyperloop is still not proven. Population density and traffic density require thoughtful planning well beyond the established capabilities of the candidates our political parties have been providing http://www.usnews.com/news/business/articles/2016-02-07/plagued-by-delays-california-high-speed-rail-back-in-courthttp://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-bullet-train-cost-final-20151025-story.html“Hyperloop” is an alternative system that Elon Musk has championed. He has criticized the high-speed rail project as too expensive and not technologically advanced enough (trains that are too slow). On August 12, 2013 he released a high-level alpha design for a Hyperloop transit system concept which he claimed would travel over three times as fast and cost less than a tenth of the rail proposal.5859 The following day he announced a plan to construct a demonstration of the concept.60 Musk’s claims have been subject to significant debate and criticism, in particular that the costs are still unknown and likely understated, the technology is not proven enough for statewide implementation, the route proposed doesn’t meet the needs of providing statewide transportation, and it does not meet the legal requirements of Proposition 1A and so would require a whole new legal underpining.61
Been to Europe many times – you can’t beat their hi-speed rails sysems.. Just took two days to come from MI to SC by plane because of weather, ended up having to rent a car to drive the last segement of the trip home.
