There was a British strip, The Perishers, that had a similar storyline. The youngest, Baby Grumpling, proclaimed the world would end on such-and-such a date early in the morning. So the cast gets up and waits at the appointed time and the world doesn’t end. The angered cast takes off after Grumpling, who yells, “I thought you’d be pleased!”
