The story of my life. Every single night, my dog starts up about 2 hrs into a sound sleep with jumping on and off the bed, giving herself a shake, nudging me with her nose and poking me with her feet, goes on for hours even after going out for a potty break. Not for lack of exercise, high quality food, ambient light, or affection. Our last resort will be doggie prozac.
Lori, our rescue dogs all did this for the first year or two—wake us (or just me) up between midnight and 5am to be cuddled. It is so SWEET that we never mind.

My cat woke me up at 5:00 am this morning by grooming loudly Not all cats can do it; it’s a knack.
