Ted Rall for January 14, 2016
Transcript:
One year ago, Islamist gunmen murdered a bunch of cartoonists. People marched in the streets in "Solidarity." But no one wrote to all the newspapers and magazines and websites that don't hire cartoonists for illustrators. Editorials decried the attack on free expression. They appeared in rich publications that don't hire cartoonists. Here's to the terrorists! At least they're honest.

Or worse, said publications get rid of cartoonists when they criticize things like let’s say, the police.

Ideological jihad – if you aren’t doing safe work, if you aren’t working within the mainstream. Take a look at Bernie – he’s not helping the corporate puppet-masters and they aren’t helping him. That being said – I don’t agree that being shot down is the same as publications not running cartoonists. I happen to vote with my dollars and don’t buy those publications.

Darn cartoonists keep pointing out those inconvenient truths.

Not hiring cartoonists and illustrators is the moral equivalent of cutting their heads off. Every time I think Ted has sunk as low as he can go, he proves me wrong.

Also I like the way Ted lists Newsweek as a “rich” publication. Didn’t Newsweek sell recently for a dollar? And haven’t they been continually losing money hand over fist? How exactly is Newsweek a “rich” publication?

Dude, maybe it’s just because you think you’re a lot better than you are.

The New York Times Sunday edition runs a cartoon. It isn’t very funny or sharply observed, and the art sucks, but it’s got panels.

This is not funny.
