@flashfan1234 which would be incredibly rude towards the host, you being there with your gf and just having entered. But Trudy does seem to acknowledge the issue.
Ah, yes, NOW I remember 7th grade parties. Boyfriends were claimed, lost and claimed again; there would be the Corner Whisperers, two girls whose social specialty was making everybody else feel uncomfortable; the highs and lows of who did and didn’t ask you to slow dance; the Couple who never danced and barely spoke with anybody else because they were so much in love; and Somebody and her Supporter in the other corner crying because Somebody was supposed to come to the party with the male half of the Couple but they had just broken up that afternoon. And a wonderful time was had by all….Sigh.
Nate looks around the party. Everyone stares at him because he was a 6th grader. He gulps. Trudy walks over and grabs his hand. “C’mon Nate, let’s dance!” Nate tries not to feel weird as he slow dances with Trudy. After all, he’s one of them now, right?Trudy notices a boy named Marcus, and stares at him. “Trudy, what is it?” Nate asks. Trudy walks over to Marcus and goes, “May I have this dance?” Nate feels so downbeat about that he lies on the floor, and Lindsay writes “Welcome Home” on his forehead.

Here would be my response to that – “I don’t get it and I don’t care.”

“Hey, it’s funny! Don’t spoil the joke by not being named Matt!”

I’m pretty sure that he wasn’t even invited. Trudy just asked if she could bring him.

I guarantee that no 7th grader has ever said “that’s a scream.”

Matt is not unique like Nate.
