Of course with those two, no table for two is sufficient. They’re required to use a fresh plate for every trip to the food bar, so they need plenty of space for the thirty or so plates they will use. Actually, what the "maitre d’ " said was, “Look, I’m just a busboy. Sit anywhere you want and don’t make a mess. At least not as much mess as you two look like you’re capable of making. If you want that booth, I’ll send out the crew to help stuff you into it. We use people who used to work stuffing new mattresses into those tiny bags they ship in.”
And it’s true. They don’t tell guest where to sit. They just hog up both comfortable chairs and leave two stools for the guests.
